Embarrassment
Here’s a good embarrassing moment from my life: The year is 1991. I’m a freshman in high school, hanging out with some friends during lunch. We’re running around campus, and decide to take a detour through the lawn. Unfortunately, it had been raining recently, and the lawn was extremely slippery. So of course I go down, flip over a few times, and come to rest with my clothes covered in mud. I mean covered. The only change of clothes I have is a ratty see-thru t-shirt in my locker that I use for gym class. It hadn’t been washed in months. So there I am, sitting in class, with a mud-soaked pair of pants and a paper-thin t-shirt that smells like crotch. Ahh, good times.
Hmm, I guess that wasn’t too bad. I still remember it to this day though, so it had some kind of impact.

I was always a nervous kid who got embarrassed easily, so I imagine I have a bunch of stories that probably wouldn’t seem that big in retrospect. I remember one time when I was about 16 working at Foster’s Freeze, this six year old kid walked up to me when it was crowded and said, “Sir, you need to oxy-cute those pimples.” That was pretty harsh and embarrasing. How do you respond to that? Yeah, thanks, kid, it’s called puberty.
I think I actually remember that happening to you! Freaking hilarious. I don’t think I know any male who didn’t experience the unintended mud slide at some point in school. It starts with the initial slide, followed by the attempt to recover, which makes you like you’re trying surf or skate or something. Finally, the hard thud along the mud and the follow-through slide as mud sloshes all over your clothes.
